Godley Colorguard

The Godley Colorguard or the "The GCG" is in its second year of existence. Colorguard is available for all high school students that are interested, are hardworking, and have a can-do attitude!

The students that are apart of The GCG perform alongside the marching band at football games and marching contests throughout October.

The goal of a colorguard is to add color to the music that you are seeing on the field. It is important to have a visual impact during big musical moments of a competitive marching band. The members use flags that have specific designs on them to match the program they are performing in the Fall, as well as having corresponding uniforms.

The members of The GCG enjoy working hard and are always striving for perfection. Our motto states "You cannot be perfect, but you can have the perfect mindset". The students have taken their motto and use it in their everyday lives, not just in colorguard! The members also enjoy going to pep-rallies, football games, and marching contests during the fall season!

winterguard

After marching season in the Fall, the colorguard goes back into training to prepare for Winterguard season. Winterguard is an indoor competitive season that showcases the guard only, so no marching band members!

The GCG competes in the NTCA (North Texas Colorguard Association) circuit. The members compete against many schools in the North Texas area. They begin competitions in late January and end their season with a Championships in the end of March.

For their indoor show Ms. Grubbs will pick a lyrical song, uniforms, flags, and a prop for the show if needed. Ms. Grubbs will then begin constructing a show for the students that includes dance and flag.

The best part about winterguard is that after marching season, the members have a lot of new skills that they have learned that they can apply to the current show they are learning!
