Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble at Godley High School is varsity auditioned group of talented musicians who are passionate about performing at the highest level. This ensemble pushes the boundaries of musical excellence, tackling challenging literature that spans from advanced high school repertoire to collegiate-level pieces.
Students in the Wind Ensemble are expected to audition for the Region Honors Bands and preparing for UIL Solo and Ensemble competitions. These opportunities allow members to showcase their individual talents and grow as musicians. The Wind Ensemble will also participate in UIL Concert and Sightreading, and frequently will attend other contests and performances across the state.
In rehearsal, students engage in rigorous practice and performance techniques, working with music that challenges both their technical ability and musical expression. This ensemble rehearses every day during 1st period.
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band at Godley High School is the non varsity ensemble that provides an enriching environment for students to develop their musical skills. This ensemble focuses on performing high school-level concert band music, offering a balance of musical challenge and growth for each member.
Students in the Symphonic Band are encouraged to pursue opportunities for further growth, such as auditioning for Region Honors Bands and preparing for Solo and Ensemble competitions. These experiences allow students to explore new musical horizons and gain a deeper understanding of performance at a competitive level. The Symphonic Band participates in the UIL Concert and Sightreading evaluation and performs 2 - 3 concerts per year.
The Symphonic Band rehearses every day during 1st period, with an emphasis on building fundamental musicianship, teamwork, and ensemble skills. Through dynamic and engaging repertoire, students work together to develop their technique, musicality, and understanding of diverse musical styles.

All-Region and All-State
All-Region is a process that allows students to perform with the best band members in a region. Students must audition with a series of difficult etudes and scales to make one of the region bands. The top students will then advance to Area which gives them an opportunity to audition for the All-State band. These students are the best of the best and perform every year at the TMEA convention in San Antonio. This year we had 6 students make the All-Region bands including 3 who advance on to Area. Throughout the state there were over 10,000 students who participated in the all region process. This year we are very proud to announce that our very own Julia Roy advanced all the way to the State Level on trumpet!! Julia will perform with the All State Band on February 17th down in San-Antonio! |
