The Godley Jazz Band is an elite level ensemble that performs music from many genres outside of the normal concert band setting such as Swing, Rock, and Latin. This is a much smaller ensemble made up of Saxes, Trombones, and Trumpets as well as a Rhythm section. This allows them opportunities to play in the community such as at the lower level schools and festivals. The Godley Jazz Band is currently in its second year of existence.
All Region
Like concert band there is an All-Region and All-State process for Jazz Band. Students practice rigorously on challenging jazz etudes as well as their ability to improv to eventually audition for All-Region Jazz Band. This year the All-Region Jazz concert was held at Kennedale High School.
